"...Small Business of the Year 2005 was
awarded to TransWorks, a firm that
provides end-to-end transportation management solutions, as
well as
accounting and back-office services, software development
and process
consulting to the transportation
industry throughout North America.
TransWorks was launched from
a
group of Norfolk Southern Corporation
subsidiaries in May 2001 with a senior
management team composed of
seasoned truckload, intermodal and
rail transportation executives. The firm
is led by President Tim Minnich, a
former executive with Triple Crown
Services who has more than 20 years
experience in transportation
management.
TransWorks provides
fully-integrated modules designed to efficiently move
shipments and process revenue
through a transportation company’s
network, using highly-automated tools and shared system components.
The
components of TransWorks’ end-to-end
solution include: a transportation
management system; business
process automation for back-office
support; financial management
solutions; interactive reporting and
data transfer; and electronic interfaces
to customers, vendors and/or drivers.
TransWorks has experienced
significant growth in its first few years
of business. In 2005, that included an
11.9 percent revenue growth figure and
three additional employees, making
for a total of 58 employees at the end
of the year. TransWorks is
experiencing additional growth this
year. The firm, located at 9910 Dupont
Circle Drive East, recently leased and
moved into 3,000 more square feet of
office space to accommodate new
business and additional employees."
