Weyerhaeuser Launches TransWorks’
Transportation Management System to Automate Truckload Carrier
Communication
FEDERAL WAY, WA. and FORT WAYNE, IN. March 25, 2004
Weyerhaeuser Company announced today that it successfully
launched TransWorks’ Transportation Management System
at its Hot Springs, Ark., transportation site last week. The
system will be used to facilitate truck transportation management
for shipments of lumber and plywood.
“Our focus is to improve the speed and quality of the
information we communicate with our carriers,” said
Rich Heydon, Director of Truck Services. “In the first
phase of this project, we are automating load tendering and
shipment visibility, with a focus on identifying and quickly
addressing exceptions. This will allow us to provide our carriers
with real-time access to receive and send shipment information
in many different formats, based on their individual preferences
and technology capabilities. We will, in turn, receive much
greater control and visibility throughout the shipment lifecycle.”
“We are pleased to have been selected to provide our
Transportation Management System to Weyerhaeuser and their
carriers,” said Tim Minnich, TransWorks' President.
“TransWorks is focused on breaking down the communication
barriers between shippers and their carriers. We accomplish
this by automating many of the repetitive, time-consuming
tasks, allowing both parties to make smarter, faster decisions
based on the most up-to-date information.”
